History of BBCF

The Beginning

In the year 1954, Delhi Bible Institute had its humble beginning in a rented shop in Jor Bagh Market with a clear focus to promote the reading, studying and teaching of the Holy Bible.

Through generous donations, Bible Bhavan was built and dedicated to the service of God on 1 January 1966. This fine building, with its excellent facilities, also provided a home for the local church Bible Bhavan Christian Fellowship. Its facilities are widely used by the Christian community in Delhi and India, and the church continues to work in close cooperation with DBI .

Teaching the Word

The focus of the work has been the local church. Through its service of Bible teaching and reaching others with the Word of God, it has endeavoured to meet the needs or people, ranging from those with no knowledge of the Bible to those of believers requiring a deeper knowledge of the Word. Bible portions are distributed extensively, and public exposition of the scripture is regularly organised. Many of these services, in an effective and contemporary manner, continue to be the focus of our service to the nation.

Spreading the Gospel

The population of India has trebled since the church started in 1954 . Millions are yet to hear about the message of forgiveness, peace and reconciliation. This need continually challenges us. With God's grace we now embark upon Vision 2025, where we plan for 12 new ashrams (centres) in the eleven state capitals of North India and one for the Nepali world.

Even as we continue to train young men and women in these centres, we plan to introduce new training tools for believers. This is our vision and we depend on God and on your prayers & cooperation to see it come true in our lifetime.
